Abstract
The information retrieval system by card selecting machine introduced here is a new and effective method developed by Showa Electric Wire & Cable Co., Ltd. to make it possible to use various sources of technical information reciprocally in the company, which have been utilized indivisually. Under this technical information retrieval system, secondary sources of science and technology from the Japan Information Center of Science & Technology(JICST) and secondary source from research reports in the company can be printed on card to accumulate, and then retrieved by using Universal Decimal Classification(UDC) and Patent Office Classification of Japan as the main keys. And the above- mentioned system is useful not only for retrospective search and SDI services, but also for patent search.
