Abstract
Manufacturing methods for a keyword index, Comprehensive Index to Japan Statistics, indicating locations (statistical tables) of statistical data was described. Electronic data processing (chinese character processing) was employed in order that specification of subject headings to be efficient and so on. Central interest of the EDP was "inversion processing". This is a process which creates new entries of the index, based upon the concept of relative index. Process of manufacturing, that is from indexing of individual statistical tables to computerized phototype, were also described from viewpoints of both manual works and electronic data processing.
