ISDS and ISSN : On the occasron of the frrst issue of "List of Japanese serials with ISSN assigned, as of June 1979,"

Abstract

A brief history, the present organization and some publications of the ISDS International Center were explained. The National Diet Library created a unit in charge of the international registration of serials in 1975, and has published its first Japanese ISDS register, containing, 6,898 ISSNs. The author states the process of compilation of it, referring to his daily work and experiences. Some figures showing the Centre's activities are available. Serial bibliographies containing ISSNs validated by the Centre are also mentioned.
