Abstract
With being enriched with quality and quantity, there has been a strong demand for performing on-line information retrieval. Assuming that designers, development reseachers, and other end users are likely involved directly in the operation of terminals, this paper describes the expected functional requirements of the intelligent terminals based upon the information obtained through questionnaires sent to Japan Electrical Patents Index Association, an organization of users of patent information.
