Zamiin Uud port is the southern gateway of Mongolia and a crucial intercontinental intermodal transport node, located on the conjunction of AH3. Here, rail-to-rail transshipments are necessitated by the fact that the Chinese railway operates on a different gauge than do Mongolia's Railway. Moreover, creating road-to-rail transshipments are needed by the fact that about 50 percent of cross-border freight comes from China on truck and sent to the final destination on rail. The current inadequate transport and logistics facility is one of the major constraints creating negative impacts on the economy as well as for the businesses.
