The development of free port plan has been promoted in Taiwan area since 2003. The major purpose is attracting multi-national enterprises to establish their Asia-Pacific operational headquarter within Taiwan's free port zone. To achieve the goal, the most important point would be what incentive schems the government will provide for business entities. This paper focuses on investigating the promotion of free port zone in Taiwan and what kind of business would be developed within the zone. It begins with a brief introduction to the development of free port plan. Then, it discusses the responding opinions from private enterprises. Two business cases currently operating within the free port zone also will be presented. Finally, some conclusions and further research suggestions are presented in the final part.
