Abstract

The situation of novel Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak has currently spread around the world. This situation has resulted in a change in travel behavior, particularly in congested modes such as public transport. Therefore, the study is intended to study the impacts of COVID-19 on students’ travel behavior in Thammasat University, Thailand. Data were collected from 329 sample groups by questionnaire survey via Google forms and analyzed using binary logistic regression. The study results showed that when comparing the usage of public transport services before and during the epidemic, there was a significant decrease in the utilization rate. About 52% shifts in travel patterns due to avoiding public transport for fear of being sick with COVID-19 and changed to a healthy lifestyle. The significant changes in various aspects of commuting behavior provide several insights for policymakers to launch proactively plan for sustainable mobility during the COVID-19 pandemic.
