Abstract

Pedestrian density is currently a common phenomenon that must be considered, particularly in public facilities such as train stations. One way that is widely used to assess this is by analyzing the Pedestrian Level of Service (PLOS), which is the aim of this study, with the LRT station and sky bridge of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport, Palembang, as the object of study. The LOS indicator, precisely pedestrian density, is obtained by using a microscopic simulation model (Viswalk), which is able to identify interactions between pedestrians and vehicles. Furthermore, pedestrian density is classified by following the Transit Capacity and Quality of Service Manual standards issued by the Transportation Research Board (2017). The results showed that all facilities at Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport always provide the highest service quality, represented by PLOS A. This indicates that the requirement of the Rail Corporation Company has been fulfilled.
