Abstract

To accurately control traffic at intersections in India, it is necessary to understand traffic performance influenced by different types of vehicles and driving behaviors under heterogeneous traffic. This study aims to estimate the saturation flow rate as a performance index by analyzing the impacts of autorickshaws and motorbikes. The trajectory of all vehicles was observed as an image from the sky using UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) at the Paldi junction in Ahmedabad, India. The saturation flow rate under heterogeneous traffic is calculated. It was also found that the proportion of autorickshaws has an impact that is directly proportional to the saturation flow rate. However, there was lower impact of the percentage of motorbikes rather than it of autorickshaws.
