Iloilo City has experienced significant urbanization, leading to increased vehicular congestion and mobility challenges. This study proposes a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system as a cost-effective and sustainable solution to improve accessibility and traffic efficiency. Utilizing the EMME transport modeling software, various traffic scenarios were simulated, including baseline conditions, BRT implementation, and mode shifts from private to public transport. Results indicate that while the introduction of BRT alone provides marginal improvements, a 5% to 10% shift from private vehicles to public transit significantly reduces vehicular travel time (VHT), vehicle distance traveled (VDT), and congestion levels, while improving average travel speeds and zone-to-zone travel times. Additionally, the BRT system enhances public transit ridership, increasing passenger distance and passenger hours. Ultimately, the proposed system presents a viable strategy for sustainable urban mobility, ensuring efficient transportation flow and improved accessibility in Iloilo City.
