Abstract

Transit facilities play a critical role in the public transport network, as they provide the space where commuters can transfer to one another. If done properly, they make transfers more convenient, which then can help induce more people to commute. The One Ayala Terminal in the Makati Central Business District has been planned with this mind. As the terminal just recently opened a few years ago, this study was conducted to make some initial investigation as to any potential impacts the terminal might have had to the commuting behavior of its users. Results from the study indicate that terminal features alone are not sufficient to induce more public transport usage; however, they can have significant influence to retain the current commuters. Among these, environmental factors should be prioritized, followed by safety/security features, orderly spaces and trip chain amenities.
