Abstract
A large-scale urban development could arise various negative effects on surrounding villages, such as sprawl-like development activities, declination in motivation for farming. This paper selected 23 villages adjacent Seishin new town in Nishi-ku and investigates the land use trends of these villages from two perspectives: the transition of fallow land (cropland conversion and abandoned agricultural land) and the distribution of facilities. In consideration of this, we comprehensively examined each village, considering the topography, location, and the status of rural community plans.
