Abstract
We quantitatively determined the mineral contents in daily meals taken at homes in Osaka and Kobe cities. The average daily intake of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, potassium and sodium were respectively 447mg, 803mg, 169mg, 13.9mg, 1, 732mg and 5, 269mg. This result suggests that calcium is slightly insufficient and sodium excessive in the daily mineral intake for adults in the above cities.
Comparison of the determined and calculated values for the minerals revealed that the former was higher than the latter in most of the minerals, but the former was less than the latter for phosphorus and sodium chloride.
