Abstract
The reflective color LCD is an important device tbr highly functional portable information terminals. In this paper, we numerically analyzed the electro-optical properties of the previously proposed single polarizer reflective TN-LCD with one LC polymer film and one retardation film. We found that the LCD using the typical LC polymer film with a large dispersion of Δ n exhibits a high contrast ratio and a high luminous reflectance when the retardation of LC polymer film and the driving TN cell are optimized to different values.
