Mesomorphic Behavier of Liquid Crystals with a Bent Structure

Abstract

This paper describes the mesomorphic properties of 4-(4-alkoxyphenoxycarbonyl)phenyl 3-alkoxy-4-bromobenzoates, and the molecular arrangement in smectic phases has been discussed in terms of their molecular structure calculated by AM1 method.
