V-shaped AFLCDs are capable of displaying analog level, wide viewing angle and fast switching speed. Nevertheless, recent investigations have concluded that impurity ions in liquid crystal devices severely interfere with the device performance [1]. In this report. we have investigated how impurily ions influence the device performance of V-shaped AFLCDs applied DC voltage. Analyzing relations belween image sticking distributions in view areas and impurity ion distributions in those, we found that impurity ions in the device cause not only residual DC but also emergence of unfavorable memory effect.
