Light deflection phenomenon in ferroelectric phase and subphases of an AFLC, CS4001, was investigated. Dependence of the deflection angles on the angle of incidence is different from those have been reported. Results of X-ray diffraction measurements suggest that this strange dependence of the deflection angles on the angle of incidence has a relation to the chevron layer structure in the AFLC cell.
