The Influence of Strage Capacitor on the TFT drive of Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals

Abstract

We investigated the effect of storage capacitor (Cs) on the TFT drive of ferroelectric liquid crystals (FLCS). It was clarified to be able to decrease the driving voltage by giving Cs. When Ps was large, the decrease of the drive voltage was larger than the small. We obtained the possibility of 5V as a drive voltage of FLCs. We achieved the characteristics of high resolution (318ppi), high-speed response (300 μs), and high color purity (equal to the NTSC standard) according to the prototype of the field sequential color (FSC) method.
