Investigation of Scattering Display Modes with Micro-dot Structure

Abstract

We have investigated a scattering display mode with micro-dot structure. Repetition of micro-dot structure are patterned on one-side of glass substrate and other side of glass substrate was without pattern. Initial alignment of liquid crystal was homeotropic. When electric field was applied, scattering phenomenon due to electrohydrodynamic instabilities were observed. Under white light illumination, transmitted light scattering was confirmed without polarizers.
