Abstract
The observation of liquid crystal orientation direction on doubly surface treated surfaces demonstrated that liquid crystal alignment could be easily controlled by selecting suitable linearly polarized UV light irradiation time of 2^<nd> photoalignment process. Time-dependent photoinduced reorientation of liquid crystal molecules is highly sensitive to rubbing strength. The behavior of liquid crystal alignment existing between two surface treated directions is explained by two competing anchoring strengths model.
