2A03 Relation Between Azimuthal Anchoring Energy and Linearly Polarized UV Dosage of Photoaligned Liquid Crystal at Small UV Dosage

Abstract

We have measured the azimuthal anchoring energy between the liquid crystal (LC) and the alignment material surface exposed to the linearly polarized deep UV (LPDUV) light at the beginning of the LC alignment. We confirmed that the relation between the azimuthal anchoring energy and the LPDUV dosage at the beginning of the LC alignment agreed well with the kinetic model. It starts from the origin of the coordinates, and it is the direct evidence of that the LC alignment was caused only by the LPDUV exposure to the alignment material.
