We examined the influence of an alternating current elerctric field on the smectic C (SmC) and Cubic phases of 4'-n-docosyloxy-3'-nitrobiphenyl-4-carboxylic acids (ANBC-22). Optical microscopic observation revealed the formation of an electric field induced cubic phase in the SmC phase even at a temperature 10K below the zero-field SmC-Cubic phase transition temperature. The growth rate of the Cubic phase was found to be dependent on the frequency and strength of the electric field, and application temperature.
