Abstract
The Zenithal Bistable Devices (ZBD) offer bistabillity and realize low power consumption. In this study, our purpose is to investigate the ZBD driving mechanism. We calculated the static energy as a function of the tilt angle in the bulk by the Finite element method (FEM). When the groove depth to groove pitch is 0.53, both states have the same energy. Surface relief grating (SRG) was fabricated by the irradiation of two interfering laser beam on photeresist. The ZBD cell was fabricated using fabricated grating substrate. We observed homeotropic alignment.
