This paper presents a development of full-color reflective active matrix display of liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) driven by field sequential method. On this LCOS, which mode is electrically controlled birefringence (ECB), there is homeotropic alignment of nematic liquid crystals. This field sequential method needs the fast response of liquid crystals and the quick switching video data. One, fast response of liquid crystals can be obtained by studying high birefringence (Δn) and optimizing cell gap. The other, quick switching video data can be obtained by configuration of 2 transistors for each pixel, so the video data must send to all pixels simultaneously. With these technologies, the prototype was achieved a high performance display.
