Abstract
It is shown that a twisted nematic (TN) liquid-crystal display (LCD) fabricated by doping Ag nanoparticles protected with nematic liquid-crystal (NLC), 5CB (K-15, Merck) molecules is switched with time constant of several milliseconds by changing the frequency of operating waveform, for example, between 20 Hz and 500 Hz, while there amplitude are kept fixed. This FM-LCD effect may be attribute to the frequency dependence of dielectric anisotropy Δε (ω) that largely modifies the threshold voltage, in turn a fast switching occurs through a rapid change in the Δε (ω).
