Abstract
Texture formation of helical polyacetylene films during polymerization was observed under a polarizing microscope to clarify the relationship between the texture of liquid crystalline solvent and that of the obtained film. The unchangeableness of the texture was confirmed through the process. The orientation of the polymer films was evaluated by polarized Ramman scattering images measured by a confocal microscope. It is confirmed that the local orientation is as high as that of the usual oriented film polymerized using nematic liquid crystalline solvent, though the averaged orientation of the films is relatively low due to periodic texture of the helical polyacetylene films.
