The polarization holography in novel photo-cross-linkable polymer liquid crystal (PPLC) film using 325 nm He-Cd laser beams was described. Adjusting the polarization modes of the interference light beams can control the phase gratings both "pure" polarization gratings and surface relief gratings. The grating formation mechanism was explained by the thermally enhanced photoinduced molecular reorientation of the PPLC film, in which the molecular reorientation direction was coincided with the polarization of the interference light.
