Periodic structures containing azobenzene moieties were fabricated by photopolymerization with three interfered beams of an Ar^+ laser at 514.5nm. After rinsing to remove unreacted monomers, an opalescent film was obtained. A two-dimensional hexagonal polymeric structure with a 3-μm period was observed by scanning electron microscopy. It was also confirmed that periodic structure was constructed in macroscopic scale by observation of six 1st-order diffracted beams of a He-Ne laser at 633nm. Upon photoirradiation at 366nm, the intensity of diffracted beam from the film decreased.
