Usually, liquid crystalline molecules are composed of a hard core and soft terminal chains. In order to develop new liquid crystals, we select a core structure and change the length of the terminal chains. In this paper, we report construction of a library of benzenoid liquid crystals with two- and three-ring system by using reductive amination, benzoylation or acylation and palladium (0)-catalyzed carbonylation through combinatorial syntheses.
