Abstract
We propose a novel controlling method of the twist sense in TN-LC cells using very fine LC alignment patterns. Influence of the fine LC alignment patterns on the stability of the ±90° reverse-twist orientation domain is investigated, experimentally. A polarization-independent LC grating with the periodic ±90° reverse-twist domain is demonstrated using the proposed method.
