The photorefractivity of mixtures of a ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) and a photoconductive polymer that possess a carbazole moiety was investigated by two-beam coupling experiments. The effect of temperature, the strength of the applied electric field and the magnitude of spontaneous polarizaion on the gain coefficient were examined. The asymmetric enegy exchage was observed only in Sm^*C phase. Gain coefficients of FLC/polymer composites were measured to be about 10cm^<-1> under application of O.1V/μm electric field. The respons time was observed to be 33ms.
