Abstract
A novel photorefractive polymer containing hydrogen-bonding moiety was synthesized. It has been reported that the photorefractivity of the isotropic phase of the side-chain liquid crystalline polymers is enhanced by the existence of microdomains. It is expected that the photorefractivity of glassy polymers will be enhanced by the introduction of microdomains. In this study, we synthesized a NLO polymer which contains a small portion of hydrogen-bonding moiety. The enhancement of photorefractivity through the formation of hydrogen-bonding microdomain was investigated.
