Abstract
UV light irradiation and plasma discharge treatment were carried out for polymer films such as polymide. Surface physical property of these modified polymer films was evaluated and influence on liquid crystal molecular orientation on the films treated by conventional rubbing technique and magnetic field orientation method (MOLCA) were examined, experimentally. As the result in case of plasma treatment, wettability of polymer films was improved, and the liquid crystal pretilt angle lowered.
