Abstract
Polarization holograms have been recorded in azo-dye-doped liquid crystal composites by using the two coherent laser beams with orthogonal polarization. The mesogenic composites consist of the azobenzene dye, low-molar-mass liquid crystalline mixture, and side chain liquid crystal polymer. All components were miscible and were homogeneously aligned in the single phase. The experimental results and theoretical analysis indicate that both liner and circular birefringence was induced in the composite films.
