Abstract
An azimuthal anchoring of the rubbed PVCi film increases by irradiating with the unpolarized UV light. Therefore, we can pattern the LC alignment with different twist angles in the cell which is fabricated using the PVCi surface irradiated with the different amount of UV light dose. The twist angle can also be controlled by irradiating with the film the UV light after the LC cell fabrication. The properties of the anchoring strength increase are discussed in the case where the surfaces in contact with and without the LC are irradiated with the UV light.
