Study of the relationship between polar anchoring strength and vertical alignment nematic liquid crystal-alignment film interface

Abstract

We investigated about the VA cell property and the polar anchoring of the alignement film. We focused on the optical feature, especially response properties, as the cell properties. Polar anchoring strength was evaluated from the measurements of the optical retardation and simulation.As a result, correlation was able to be confirmed between the polar anchoring strength and the response properties. Furthermore, polar anchoring strength was influenced by the chain length of the alignment film.
