Polymer-stabilized V-mode FLCDs and Their Application to Field Sequential Full Color LCDs

Abstract

By an appropriate combination of mesogenic polymer stabilization and special rubbing technique, we succeeded in fabricating defect free FLCD exhibiting continuous grayscale operation with high contrast ratio of 700:1. This device is called PSV-mode FLCD. Using this device, we fabricated a field sequential full color LCDs with 4 inch diagonal, SVGA(800*600), 254ppi specification and good color gamut.
