Abstract
An internal DC voltage generated in a LC cell (residual DC voltage) brings image sticking phenomena on LCDs. It is known that the residual DC voltage strongly relates to impurity ions in the cell. In this study, we investigated a relation of absorption and desorption process of the ions to a surface between LC phase and alignment layer with the residual DC voltage. Finally, we proposed a suitable evaluation method of materials for LCDs from the point of the image sticking.
