Nano-particle behavior analysis by means of single-sided alignment layer structure in LC cells

Abstract

It is well known that mobile ions in LCD panels are one of the causes of a display defect. We have confirmed that the amount of mobile ions in the LC cells reduces if nano-particles are doped into an alignment layer. We also have succeeded in identifying the ion polarity by fabricating LC cells having a single-sided alignment layer structure.
