Fabrication method for close-packed PDLC device applying sol-gel transition of gelatin and agar

Abstract

The fabrication method for close-packed monolayer PDLC structure was examined by applying the sol-gel change of the gelatin and agar. By controlling of the process temperature, the agar layer in the gel state is stacked on the gelatin emulsion layer in the sol state in drying process. In the effect that a hard layer of agar pushes the liquid crystal drop, a close-packed monolayer PDLC device monolayer having polyhedron droplets and a flat surface was achieved.
