Abstract
The most important challenges for realizing flexible LC devices using plastic substrates are polymer-wall spacer technology and improvement of contrast property. For enhancing contrast ratio of flexible twisted nematic (TN) liquid crystal devices containing molecular-aligned polymer walls,it is necessary to suppress optical leakage of the polymer walls. In this study,we investigated the optical rotation effect of the twisted-alignment polymer walls by controlling the cell thickness, polymerizing time and temperature. The black-state display level of the cell can be reduced by controlling these forming parameters.
