Abstract
In flexible liquid crystal (LC) displays, electrooptic properties are disordered when the substrate gap is changed by spacer deformation and pressure damage. In this study we have proposed a formation method of robust spacers on a plastic substrate by roller nanoimprint technique. We fabricated a vertical-alignment LC device with plastic substrates by utilizing the striped spacers and comb-like electrodes. We confirmed the light modulation of the flexible LC device.
