Stimuli-Responsive Photoluminescent Liquid Crystals Consisting of an Anthracene Core and Dendritic Moieties

Abstract

We previously reported a mechanochromic luminescent liquid crystal based on anthracene having dendritic moieties. In this study, more bulky dendritic moieties have been introduced Into the anthracene core. The synthesized compound exhibits the liquid-crystalline phase in a wide temperature range including room temperature. The photoluminescent color of this compound changes from yellow to blue by mechanical shearing at room temperature.
