Abstract
In recent years, bistable LCDs has attracted people's attention due to their applicability to electronic papers. We have previously showed a new bistable state created by applying a photo-alignment method to vertical LC alignment films. In this study, the driving of the bistable state is conducted by sequential application of out-of-plane and in-plane electric fields to the bistable LCDs and the change in LC alignment states is observed which depends on the polarity of an in-plane electric field.
