Abstract
It was reported that a tetradecyloxy homologue of a triphenylene possessing the peripherally attached six alkoxyazobenzenes with propylenecarbonyloxy linkages exhibits a bimesomorphism of SmA and Colr mesophases and the isothermal phase transtions among Colr, SmA and iso phases are realised by photon incidence which induces the trans-cis photoisomerization of azobenzene units. In this work, the mesomorphism and isothermal phase transition behaviour were studied.
