Liquid-crystalline(LC) behavior and photoluminescent properties of a gold(I) complexes, 1a, 1b, 1c, and 1d were investigated. One of the complexes 1b showed enantiotropic LC phases. In addition, the complexes showed blue photoluminescence in the crystalline phase, but no luminescence were observed in a dilute solution. The quantum yields of photoluminescence were 8〜50%, and depended on aggregation structure in crystalline phases. The complexes also showed photoluminescence in LC phase and in I phase. We demonstrated that reversible change in photoluminescent behavior was induced by phase transition.
