Abstract
Liquid crystal CCN47 shows a discontinuous anchoring transition on amorphous perfluoropolymer (CYTOP) surface. We have proposed and demonstrated novel memory devices in a bistable temperature range in which both planar and homeotropic alignments are equally stable. In this presentation, we will show that the addition of azo-containing liquid crystalline dendrimers into the liquid crystal makes the writing power much lower than that in the previous device using the liquid crystal with conventional dyes.
