3a05 Improved structural regularity of an inorganic nanosheet liquid crystal by addition of ionic polymer

Abstract

Colloidal dispersion of the inorganic nanosheet derived from a layered clay mineral montmorillonite was found to show liquid crystal phase. The structural regularity of this liquid crystal increased drastically by the addition of a small amount of anionic polymers such as polyacrylic acid and DNA as revealed by small-angle X-ray scattering measurements.
