PA41 Volume phase transition of monodomain nematic gels in mixed solvents

Abstract

We investigate the equilibrium swelling and phase behavior of the liquid crystalline elastomers swollen in the mixtures of the two isotropic solvents with different solubilities. The gels undergo the transition between the swollen isotropic state and the shrunken nematic state at a certain solvent composition.
