2A06 LC-domain dispersed phospholipid films

Abstract

Aiming at a pseudo-biomembrane, as the first step, we made phospholipid films in which the LC domains with several 〜 several-tens of micrometer diameter were well dispersed, both at the air-water and oil-water interfaces. The heterogeneous lipid films were then transferred from the oil-water interface to the vesicles by means of inverted emulsion method. The giant unilamellar vesicles were successfully made, but so far we could hardly find the embedded LC domains. The process should be improved such that the film structure at the interface is not broken.
